Diet Plan Options

I nearly forgot I had a diet and exercise journal. The past couple months have been so bad for my diet. I basically went on a binge eating kick, and this week, I'm feeling it. I've got to do something about how I feel.

This weekend I was watching Marie Osmond on the Miracle Network marathon. She looks amazing! Seeing how good she really looks got me thinking about how she lost the weight. She went with the Nutrisystem program. I realize she was on dancing with the stars, and all those hours of working out in practice had a lot to do with her weight loss. However, with any diet, I know I need to exercise. I may not need as tough a workout as her dancing with the stars workout, but exercise is a key factor in losing weight and getting fit.

So now I'm looking at my options for my diet. I checked into Nutrisystem a little. Preplanned meals sounds so easy. I'm not sure I like the whole idea of taking my food out of a package and popping it into the microwave. Is Nutrisystem the best option I have? Not really. I don't think it will work for me. I like to cook. However, cooking seems to be my downfall right now. On the other hand, even if I do go with preplanned meals for my diet, I will have to figure out something for my family for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As amazing as Marie Osmond looks, and how well the diet worked for her, I don't think I can do Nutrisystem at this stage in my life.

One of my friends has been doing the Atkins diet. He looks so wonderful right now. He's eating low carb healthy. He fills up with high fiber vegetables, and his protein is lean fish, pork, poultry, and some red meat. He has cut out starchy white food. He doesn't eat white potatoes, rice, sugar, corn, and he stays away from anything with regular flour. He's happy with his results and he looks great. He's not working in any extra workouts. I wonder if he walked or added in strength training and some cardio how he would lose.

Another option I'm looking into is the weight watcher's program. I know so many women who have done weight watchers with a lot of success. It takes more time to lose the weight than the other programs seem to, but the women I know, have kept the weight off. The eating habits they learn from weight watchers stick with them, contributing to their success.

I don't know what I'm doing for my diet. I know I need to do something, as I continue walking. Getting outside for a walk is a daily habit for me. I walk 2 to 3 miles a day, and that adds up over time. I'm glad I didn't fall back into bad habits, as far as my exercise goes. At least that is one thing I've got going for my health right now.

I will continue looking at my diet options and maybe I'll figure out what I'm doing soon.

Weekend Warrior

I thought because it is the weekend I might have trouble with my entire plan. I am feeling like a warrior! I survived Saturday's party mode food and I walked 3 miles!

Thinking Atkins

I don't know where they came from, or how long they have been here, but I found a box of books in my closet yesterday. In with the box of books were several atkins books. They look brand new. I sure don't recall purchasing them, but there they were, along with several of my books.

I like what I'm doing right now. I feel like I'm eating healthy, and I feel like I'm getting enough exercise. Do I need to read these books? I have serious doubts I need to read them. But I'm going to.

I know a guy, he's about 45ish. He's been doing a modified atkins diet for awhile now. He looks great. He's lost about 57 pounds in a few months time. I had lunch with him recently, and we ate at a buffet. I'm here to say, a buffet on a calorie counting diet is really hard! He didn't count anything. He stays away from most of the bad carbs and some of the vegie carbs, like corn. Since I found these books I've been thinking a lot about the atkins diet. I thought I'd talk with him and see how his last test results came out. If it hasn't raised his cholesterol or blood pressure I might consider going atkins. For now, I'll stick to my 1200 calories a day.

I'm Back On Track

I'm back on track and it's a good thing! I don't like feeling like I've cheated on myself at the end of the day. It's not a good feeling.

Today I've eaten basic good healthy food and I'm back to my exercise routine.

I Need a Plan

I thought I had a plan in place for my day out. It didn't work out the way I planned. My lunch companions chose where we were having lunch. The only thing on the healthy end of things to eat was watermelon. I felt defeated from the time I heard where we were going to eat. I tried to influence them otherwise, but there was no budging on their decision.

I need to find new people to hang with.

Did I stick with my goals? I walked. I drank water. But at the end of the day I felt like a loser. Not a loser in a good way as in biggest loser. No. I felt like a complete loser.

Now that I'm writing about it, I feel better. I managed to do some things right yesterday. I walked. I drank water. I stuck with a low cal evening snack of sugar free jello.

I'm making a plan for my next outing.

House Arrest

I so want to step on the scale, but I refuse to do so until the end of the week. I haven't taken measurements and I know they say to do that on the first day, but I haven't made the time.

Oh and I was suppose to go out shopping and spend the entire day in town. I couldn't bring myself to do it! I didn't have any ideas on what to eat if I was to leave the house. Can you imagine? Confining myself to house arrest just to avoid a high calorie lunch!

Well, enough of that! I can't stay home forever! I found a list on sparkpeople.com with a lot of the fast food restaurant nutrition guides listed. Oh thank you!! I will be out and about tomorrow!

Munch Munch Munch

I didn't realize how much food is on a 1200 - 1500 calorie diet. My gosh! I just entered my daily food count into sparkpeople.com and I came up short again today. I have entered every single nibble I put into my mouth and I'm just over 1000 calories. Well, I ran and grabbed a yoplait light yogurt and have been eating it while I blog so that brought it up to 1100 calories. I know! Eating at the computer is probably not the best thing I can do for myself. But... I know! Another excuse... but I'm so tired, I'm headed to bed as soon as I get off here.

So what is on my menu for today? Besides all that water I've been drinking?

B.oatmeal and coffee and cream (half & half - 20 calories)

L. 1/2 cup of bean salad & cantaloupe & a serving of thin lunchmeat

D. lean grilled without added fat - pork chop, mixed green salad (with a nonfat dressing I made - zero calories! ) and frozen green peas.

S. dairy queen cherry dilly bar and just now one yoplait fat free orange creme flavor yogurt

Today's Diet Diary

Part of my weight loss program is to keep a diary of everything I eat. I suppose the reason is to see how my daily calorie intake is used.

Breakfast - oatmeal & banana
Snack - cantaloupe & 4 peanuts
Lunch - spicy chicken fillet, salad w/ Italian dressing, bean salad, cantaloupe
Snack - cantaloupe & pretzels
40 calories from cream for my coffee.

I've finished my water intake for the day and I'm not hungry at all. I know I haven't eaten enough calories for the day. But I'm really not hungry. Should I eat? I have no idea what to do. I think I might eat a small snack and be done with it for the day.

I should be drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water a day. I've done that.

I Need to Eat More

I just completed my daily food diary for the day over on sparkpeople.com, and according to the tally I didn't use all my calories today. I'm headed to bed anyway, it feels like I've done nothing but eat today. Eat and drink water.

So far I've completed my daily goals. One day into my daily goals and I met all of them. Exercise, diet, water, and general habits. I'm so proud of myself for that one little accomplishment. Breaking it down into simple goals seems so much easier than looking a year down the road at the final goal.

I like this weight loss plan.

What Diet To Choose?

I'm considering going on a regular diet plan, such as, weight watchers or nutrisystem. I have never done a planned diet before so I'm not sure what one will be best for me.

I like the setup of the weight watchers program. I know I can eat out at a few places with points on the menu so there is no real difficult decision making at meal time as far as that goes. Eating out is important to me because we travel quite a bit. Not only that, but I like to eat out.

I have watched the Jenny Craig commercials with Kirstie. It seems to have worked for her and it is working for Valerie Bertinelli. They both look great. But would it work for me? Dinner is in the freezer. Hm. Doesn't sound all that appealing to me.

I really like what Oprah suggested a long while back. Cut the bad carbs such as anything white or refined. I can live without rice and potatoes. I love fruits and vegetables, but I'm craving sweets right now. Maybe it is because I feel like I can't have it.

I need to do more research on diet plans. So far walking is working. My clothes are still fitting better. Maybe it won't take too long for me to be in a smaller size of big britches.

Alli The Pooping Grease Drug

I was going through the grocery ads this morning. Every store in my area has the diet pill Alli advertised. Alli is the new diet drug that blocks fat absorption in the body. One of the side effects is that you poop yellow grease. You don't just poop yellow grease, it shoots right out. Without warning. So you are going along with your day like no body's business, and all of a sudden you poop your pants. Not regular poop, greasy yellow poop.

There are reports the diet drug is flying off the shelves in LA. I can see the opportunity for the paparazzi to have a field day with this one. Soon we will be seeing photos of poopy britches. I'd rather have big britches than poopy britches any day of the week.

I think I will stay out of the pharmacy and go for a walk.

Fish on the George Forman Grill

Oh yum! I cooked fish fillets on the George Forman grill tonight. First I sprinkled them with seasoned salt, then closed the lid. I let them cook for just a couple minutes, then opened the lid every 30 seconds until they were flakey. They turned out perfectly.

This was far easier and faster than baking and the fish was very moist. This is my new favorite diet food I think.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day! We served my kids daddy breakfast in bed this morning.

Because it's raining, I'm not going out for a walk, so it's back to the get up and move plan.

The original plan for today was a barbque but I don't think that is going to work out very well. We might have to go out for dinner. Darn huh? I might chose a place with a weight watcher's menu, like Applebee's. Oh of course, I'll let DH think he chose the place to eat. After all, this day is all about daddy.

Another Day Another Mile Logged

I can't say I'm enjoying getting out and walking or the get up and move through the commercials I've set myself up to do, but I am getting up and moving easier today than I was at the beginning of the week. That is exciting to me.

I was looking through exercise programs available and the choices seem endless. For now I'm going to stick to the get up and move program I have going for myself. Maybe once I have lost a few pounds I might be more excited about an exercise program other than walking.

My food choices this week haven't been very healthy. We've been busy with every day life and I didn't have time to cook a couple of nights. One day I was gone all day long and I got the munchies so bad by mid afternoon we stopped at a fast food place and grabbed burgers and fries. I need to plan ahead for days we will be out all day long.

My goals for this next week are be happier about walking and plan for busy days.

It's Time for Me to Get Up and Move

I'm fat and I know it. I can't help but know I'm fat. I fold my own laundry. I'm here to tell ya, you can't hide the facts from yourself when you fold your own laundry. lol It's so bad, I don't fold my undies. I stash them into a wad in the drawer so I don't have to hold them up and look at how big they really are.

I've been getting up and moving a little more here this past week. But I really want to commit to an exercise routine of some sort. I figure if I put it out there for the public to see I'll be more committed to the routine than I would be if I kept this all to myself. I don't want to talk to anyone in person about my weight, so this is my best option.

I have a goal, I want to lose 2 to 3 pounds a week. I want to do it with a healthy diet and exercise routine. I need to lose more than 75 pounds. I haven't decided on a final goal weight. After I lose 75 pounds I'll figure out if I want to lose more than that or not.

If you want to lose weight, post a comment. I think it would be great to have a support team with me on my journey to a healthy life.
