Walking 60 Miles in 30 Days

I decided I'll shoot for the 60 mile challenge this month. The count down begins! I'm down 2 miles! The pilates program is getting easier and I'm seeing results! Maybe it's a combination of 1200 calories, walking, along with the pilates. Whatever it is, I'm encouraged!

I'm walking 60 miles this month! Are you going to get up and walk with me?

A Dress Size in 10 Days?

Oh, I could probably fit into a smaller dress size. However, can I sqeeze my big butt into a smaller pair of britches? Yeah. But can I breathe? NO.

Challenge - 45 Miles!!!

Yeah BABY! 45 miles down and 2 days to go!!!

Okay, I'm a tad excited here. One challenge down. I know, way back at the beginning of the month I thought no problem. I can do 45 miles by the end of the month. I can probably do 90 miles by the end of the month. *hufffff-puffff* Can ya just hear me? lol Those gals walking a 90 mile month - I give you a hand!

Maybe next month I'll take on a 60 mile challenge for real. I have a couple days to decide if I think I'm up to it. I'll definately take on the 45 mile challenge again. There are advantages to taking on the 60 mile challenge. I need to lose weight to meet my monthly goal. I know walking the extra 15 miles will go a long way towards burning those extra calories I need to burn. On the downside, August is hot. Do I want to walk an extra 15 miles in the heat?

Decisions. Decisions. LOL!

One Month!

I've been on sparkpeople.com for one month today and I've lost 9 pounds.

A few things I've learned in the last month.
  • I need to keep a food journal so I can see what triggers me to eat, and so I know how much I'm actually putting into my body.
  • I know I'm a stress eater. When I'm stressed I need to find a healthy distraction. Exercise, writing, or cleaning house are good distractions for me right now.
  • I need to keep my goals and challenges posted in prime spots around me.
  • Water isn't so bad!
  • I enjoy walking.
  • I have a lot of great support around me. Here at home, my family, friends, and my new online support groups. Thank you!

I'm Here! I'm Here!

I haven't abandoned my blog, I had technical difficulties on the home front. It's good to be back! It's really good to be back with what I consider an awesome report!

  • I'm managing to stay active! YAYAYAY!!
  • I've dropped two more pounds on my weekly weigh in.
  • The best part of my report is I feel much more limber.
  • I'm on track to beat the 45 mile challenge!!!

Okay, here's the deal. When you weigh as much as I do, it's pretty darn difficult to get up off the floor with any grace at all. This week I might not be getting up and down with much more grace than I had last month, but I can do it. I can get off the floor without the need for a crane! I don't even need to lean on a table or pull myself up to a sofa. It feels good to get myself up off the floor without any help!

Walking In The Sunshine

It's beautiful outside! It's not too hot and it's not raining, so a walk in the sunshine was exactly what I needed today. I feel awesome this evening! I want to make my goal of 45 miles this month, so I might get out for a sunset walk this evening too.

I'm staying with my goals and challenges. It was a good idea to print them out and place them in different places where they are handy to read. I think anyone starting a new diet and exercise routine should print out their goals and have them in view at critical times of the day. I thought having them here on my blog was good enough, but it wasn't. The reason behind my change of thinking is because I don't always log on in the mornings. I've been logging on later in the day, so I didn't even see my goals and challenges first thing in the morning. That wasn't a good plan.

With my new plan in place I believe I'll do much better at sticking with my goals.

No Excuses

Plain facts. I had soda today. I walked about 15 minutes today. Maybe 25 minutes of walking. I had a donut a few minutes ago and I haven't finished even half of my water.

I'm not going to try to make up any excuses. How am I going to help prevent things like this from happening in the future?
  • First of all, I'm going to print out my goals and post them right in next to the toilet in the bathroom. That will be the first thing I read in the morning.
  • I'm going to print another copy of my goals and challenges and hang them on the fridge door.
  • I'm going to have a set printed and keep them in the car so I have them with me at all times.

I don't feel like I've failed. I do feel like I need to work on remembering what my goals are.

Virtual Model

I want to thank Lady Rose for her post about the virtual model. Now I have one more visual goal before me every day!

Staying Strong

I'm walking, walking, walking. I'm so thrilled to be walking, walking, walking!

Time To Start My Goals and Challenges

It's July! I'm excited! Each goal I meet and each challenge I live up to is one step closer to my long term goal of losing all this weight.

July

I've listed my challenges and goals for July in my sidebar. I'm excited to start another month and new challenges and goals. I think I can keep up with these. I know, they might seem pretty simple to some people, but these are challenging for me. Especially eating at an appropriate place. I've always been bad about finishing up my grocery shopping trip with a snack added to the cart just so I can eat it in the car on the way home.

Yesterday I started to scope out snacks in the store, but I gave it a second thought. I'm not even going to eat an apple in the car. I might need to post a sign on the dashboard "No snacks in the car". hehe! I did plan ahead and had bottled water to drink on the way home. I might start carrying an ice chest with me so I always have cold water on hand to ease the temptation of stopping off for a coke. Anything to make this easier!

Like I said, I'm excited about my July challenges and goals!

Goals for Tuesday June 25th

  1. Eat fresh (prepared) food as much as you can
  2. Stay with low sodium
  3. 10-12 glasses of water
  4. No junk food
  5. no fast-food
  6. No pizza
I stuck with my goals today! I love this plan. I feel like I'm a success!

I Need to Eat More

I just completed my daily food diary for the day over on sparkpeople.com, and according to the tally I didn't use all my calories today. I'm headed to bed anyway, it feels like I've done nothing but eat today. Eat and drink water.

So far I've completed my daily goals. One day into my daily goals and I met all of them. Exercise, diet, water, and general habits. I'm so proud of myself for that one little accomplishment. Breaking it down into simple goals seems so much easier than looking a year down the road at the final goal.

I like this weight loss plan.

Today's Weight Loss Challenge

On SparkPeople.com, the free weight loss and diet plan webiste I blogged about earlier is awesome. I joined a couple of groups. They post daily challenges in my forum. This are my daily challenges for this week. I know I can do this.

  2. Stay with low sodium
  3. 10-12 glasses of water

Along with my regular daily diet and exercise goals I feel like I can do this!

Another Day Another Mile Logged

I can't say I'm enjoying getting out and walking or the get up and move through the commercials I've set myself up to do, but I am getting up and moving easier today than I was at the beginning of the week. That is exciting to me.

I was looking through exercise programs available and the choices seem endless. For now I'm going to stick to the get up and move program I have going for myself. Maybe once I have lost a few pounds I might be more excited about an exercise program other than walking.

My food choices this week haven't been very healthy. We've been busy with every day life and I didn't have time to cook a couple of nights. One day I was gone all day long and I got the munchies so bad by mid afternoon we stopped at a fast food place and grabbed burgers and fries. I need to plan ahead for days we will be out all day long.

My goals for this next week are be happier about walking and plan for busy days.
